So,
what is actually happening at Bright Lights? All for One and One for All?
Friday
Well, the first thing that happens is that you show up!
Then we are straight into Bright Lights 2008 with some food, prayer and
music to get us going for the weekend. Matt Maher and band are gonna rock
out with some prayerful tunes! Jean Vanier is gonna inspire and delight with
wise and thoughtful words, and then Jahaziel is gonna take over the main
stage with some lyrical hip hop stylings. Towards the end of the evening we
welcome back to Bright Lights our favourite mime artist Steve Murray . This
will lead us into our first prayer time for the weekend. Now, pace yourself,
get a little bit of sleep, its gonna be a huge weekend! (for 6th
Formers coming to the earlier part of the day, see below for more info!)
Saturday
Now Saturday is where things
really start to pick up! After worship and prayer we get the chance to hear
Jean Vanier again and Sr. Judith speaking to us about being one. From there
it is off into small groups and then back for lunch. We then have a time of
Reconciliation, a chance to come before God’s love openly and honestly. Then
before Mass we hear from James Mawdsley, who has been out there campaigning
for the suffering people of Burma and was even jailed for daring to speak
about against their government. After is workshop time, a whole bunch of
different topics. To continue an amazing day, Matt Maher and band are gonna
rock. Finally we will be spending some time in Adoration of the Big Man
Himself! Whatta day! And, tomorrow there’s more!
Sunday
Like Saturday, we start the day with prayer and brekky
follwed by seminars and then the one and only Matt Maher returns to the
stage to talk to us and lead us in worship. That takes us up to lunch and
then we have a whole bunch of workshops on everything from science and faith
to what we should be doing with our lives! So, go have a chat! We gather
together for Mass and then, bring on the Hog Roast! Sounds of Salvation will
entertain in concert before the day comes to a close with Night Prayer in an
amazing outdoors setting!
Monday
Today Brightlights comes to an end – after Breakfast
there’s Mass and we all head home, inspired and encouraged to be united, One
in Faith! Hugs, tears, photos, and some new friends to get us through to
next year! Thanks for being here!
(Lunch will be available for those who wish to help start
to clear up – all help is welcome and greatly appreciated)
Friday Daytime – Day for 6th Formers
After arriving and welcome there will be a great show put
on by the dynamic and young Rise Drama Company. Then Sr. Judith will
challenge the way you think about riches and poverty before some funky music
by Matt Maher. Jean Vanier will lead us into thinking about how we become
one, real community. |
